What is the difference between IMAP and POP3?

Hostdeko supports both IMAP and POP3. But what is the difference?

When you are using POP3 our server will only temporarily hold your emails. When your email client downloads your emails it will usually delete the mails from our server. IMAP does the opposite; it keeps all mails on the Hostdeko server. Instead the client only downloads a local copy.

IMAP
